In anticipation of their first full-length, which drops next month on the Italians Do It Better label, here’s Nite Jewel with the duo’s finest work to date — the “Artificial Intelligence” video. Shot last summer by Travis Peterson, the video is a tale of modern starlet-dom that passes through four of the five steps in the “Behind the Music” continuum. More importantly, it’s fun, campy and smart — just like the song.

Subdued, catchy and woozily danceable, Nite Jewel’s jams are a bit like labelmates Glass Candy crossed with the Blow on heavy downers. It’s a total cliche to use drug references in a review that way, but if you watch the video it’s possible I’m not too far off the mark. The very L.A.-sounding act is currently on the road, performing in Austin at SXSW next week (where Loudcrowd is also hosting a fabulous party — more on that soon!)
