America- Ventura Highway (Live 1974)
A New Lite Dawns
Yesterday as a friend and I were discussing some of our favorite remixers of the moment (e.g. Fred Falke, GLOVES, Lifelike) we struck upon their major commonality-the sentimental sheen they lay over much of today’s electropop and rock. For me, this softer side of things reminisces lite rock, one of my sweet spots.
Giving a pop gloss to already stellar bands like Van She or Ladyhawke, these guys smooth the raw edges and echo the energy of the moment: Pensiveness. Wistfulness. Wonder. Check the Breakbot remix of Sebastien Tellier’s Roche; this track reminds me of the many bittersweet 70s classics that made me such a lite rock fan.
