This Wednesday I’m psyched to feature a playlist from guest DJ Lindsey, fellow New Yorker and inspiration to myself and others managing to debunk the myths about lady DJs (yes we can be knowledgable about music and have sick skills and like clothes and makeup and be smart all at the same time).
I met Lindsey at her long-running Negroclash night at NYC’s APT—at which she shared the decks with the likes of Afrika Baambaata, Mantronix and Larry Heard along with her partners Duane and DJ Language. Soon after I interviewed her for an article in my now defunct indy mag Dirtypop, for which she was nice enough to DJ an issue premiere the following year. Between now and then she’s been an editor at Fader, been featured in the NY Times, and even DJ’d for Prince! (Who can beat that?)
Lindsey’s creative mix of electro, hip-hop and other timeless funky selections are a change of pace for Loudcrowd so let us know what you think! If you love it, find your way to the East Village on a Wednesday for a sampling of Hip Hop favorites from ‘88-‘98 at her party The Hump.

DJ Lindsey’s playlist is live at 12, 3, 6, and 9 AM and PM from Dec 31-Jan 6th.
