New Loudness Tuesdays

OK, so it’s Tuesday again which means we have new music for you. Free, awesome, new, music: four great things all inside of one thing! That’s like a turducken wrapped in bacon, except you’re less likely to have a heart attack.

Plucky Canadians The Voices’ song “Street Commander (Stretch Armstrong Remix),” shows that it’s possible to mix deadpan, Joy Division-y vocals with Lue Skywalker-ish old school beats and distorted video game/synth sounds — and for it to all work really well. That’s serious science, right there.

Doctor Mix and The Remix’s take on “No Fun” is a song from the early 1980s. It was recently reissued on the awesome CarPark subsidiary Acute. The band, who had such a weirdly awful name it must sound better in other languages, was started by some members of French punk greats Metal Urbain after they disbanded.

Finally, need some Atlanta, GA-based garage rock? The Carbonas’ “Didn’t Tell You a Lie” is enough to get even the most diehard couch potato up off of the couch and bouncing around the room.
