THE REELING

Have you seen the video for Passion Pit’s “The Reeling,” yet? It’s really well done — very cool effects! That’s not something I usually say, either, “very cool effects.” I don’t go see movies for their seamless integration of CGI effects, or whatever. But the combination of fake film grain, stop motion and whatever that poster-tearing effect is called is just right.

It seems that this band of unrepentant prepsters is about to blow up — beyond the blogosphere/ myspace world, and into the actual, real, physical one. From what we’ve heard of their album Manners, released just this week, they deserve to be as big as Mstrkrft or MGMT — or even bands that have saved up enough money to buy vowels from Pat. (I’m sorry, I know that joke is stale.)
